The Mandolay Hotel

I was impressed by the staff at Mandalay hotel. Everyone was very welcoming and genuinely seemed to like working there and helping customers. Linda and the staff in the restaurant (on 08/03- breakfast time) were excellent. The room was very clean and well stocked. A very minor issue is that due to the hotel possible being an old-refurbished building,sometimes you can really hear the plumbing at night. However, I cannot see how that can be avoided. I will wear loops next time. Will definitely come back!

While I personally found the room slightly compact for my preference, I must say that everything provided was of excellent quality. The bed was very comfortable, the toiletries (including the shampoo) were thoughtfully selected, and even the tea selection alongside the kettle reflected attention to detail. A special mention to Sunita at the reception. She was exceptionally warm, professional, and genuinely helpful throughout my stay. Her welcoming manner and readiness to assist made the experience smooth and comfortable. Staff like her truly elevate the hospitality experience. The location of the hotel is outstanding — ideal for anyone looking to spend quality time in Guildford. It offers both convenience and charm. The food deserves particular praise. The meals were stunning, and compliments to the chef for delivering what I would rate as a five-star culinary experience. Overall, my stay was very pleasant, and I appreciate the quality and service provided by your team. Thank you for a memorable weekend.

We recently hosted a conference in the downstairs area of the Mandolay! We were so pleased with how everything turned out! Hotel was spacious, clean and homely Food was great, restaurant menu was everything you needed and tasted great! Reception staff were helpful, carried all my bags upstairs, showed me round the room and how everything worked! Conference- Louis the manager was incredible, he was super helpful, was always around when we needed anything or had a question! His attention to detail was impeccable and his friendly, up beat attitude kept us at ease the whole day and evening! Thank you to the whole hotel team for helping us make such a successful event! We will be back again!

Stayed here for my birthday. We were given a wonderful room and I had a welcoming birthday cake, a lovely touch. Bed was very comfortable and nice clean bathroom. Scarlet gave us a warm welcome, she was friendly and professional. Parking was easily accessible behind the hotel. Bar staff were lovely, nice cocktail and wine was delicious. We will definitely return.

I live locally and have tried several hotels in Guildford, but The Mandolay Hotel is easily my top choice. The staff are consistently friendly and welcoming, both at reception and in the restaurant, and the food is quite tasty at reasonable prices. On one visit, we even stayed in a room with a washing machine, which was a real lifesaver when ours broke at home! My daughter (just turned 12) also had her birthday afternoon tea party there with her friends two years in a row, and they absolutely loved it. Everything was nicely arranged, making it a truly special celebration. Highly recommended!

What a great hotel. Was here for a conference yesterday and stayed overnight. Staff are all so pleasant and helpful. The single room is perfect for just me. The breakfast was delicious and a huge variety to choose from. There's a nespresso machine which makes delicious Decaf coffee. Yesterday at the conference the food was great all day. I can totally see why this is a popular event venue. And finally I agree that Scarlet on reception is such a great ambassador for the Hotel.

Lovely hotel in central Guilford: a great location. Great pricing. Was greeted by Scarlet at reception on Saturday evening for what was a late booking. She knew to expect me. She made me feel extremely welcome , but as conscientious and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable including upgrading my single bed room to a double executive one. Overall amenities were were of a high standard and the bar area was a nice place to perch in the later hours. Bar staff were very attentive to my needs, and very friendly, adding to the overall experience. Would recommend and recommend will be looking to return next time I am in Guilford

We had the free flowing prosecco afternoon tea. The space was great, the food and selection, perfect. Nuno, our waiter was friendly and attentive, refilling our glasses when required. We had a wonderful afternoon and consider it very good value - highly recommended.
